The low cost carrier (LCC) Air Asia Berhad has decided to commence the domestic flights in Malaysia on April 29, after the approval from the authorities.
Air Asia said in a statement “The resumption of services will initially be for key selected domestic routes, which will increase gradually to include international destinations around the network, once the situation improves and governments lift borders and travel restrictions.”
Air Asia has also set to resume flights from May 1 in Thailand and Philippines, May 4 in India and May 7 in Indonesia.
Mr. Bo Lingam, the president of Air Asia Group, said that the group expects to resume full flight operations as soon as possible.
The team of Air Asia has reviewed their procedures of guest handling both on board and on the ground in light of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Moreover, they have been working with the airport authorities to ensure that all the relevant precautionary measures are in place to make the journey safe, pleasant and comfortable for every passenger.
Air Asia has also mentioned that they work actively with their regulators, civil aviation, local governments and health authorities including persevering the guidelines of the World Health Organisation (WHO) and International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) to make sure the highest possible level of adherence and conformance are in place for every single flight which they operate in their network. Air Asia has also said that the safety and wellbeing of their passengers and employees is always its priority.
Air Asia flights are ready to accept bookings via its website airasia.com and its mobile app. While booking the tickets, passengers may use their credit accounts to redeem for these flights.
The details of flight schedules and on more routes will be announced in the next coming weeks and will be subjected to approval from the authorities.
