Mr. R. Vidyananthan, State Health and Environment Committee chairman, has informed on Sunday that starting from April 27th, Malaysians who want to return from Singapore will need an entry permit from the Malaysian High Commission in the island republic.
To apply for the permit, Malaysians will need to provide details such as their name, identity card number, passport number, departure date and documents such as a copy of their working pass, long term pass, permanent resident pass or students pass.
All required details along with documents must be emailed to the Malaysian High Commissioner in Singapore at “stmsg@mhc.org.sg” at least two days before they want to travel back to Malaysia. The approved entry permit will be emailed to them which they will need to show it to Malaysian Immigration officers while entering into the country.
The entry permit requirement is a measure to break the chain in spread of Covid-19 in the country. Numbers of Malaysians returning from Singapore are increasing every day as people struggle to get back to their homes in these difficult times.
Mr. R. Vidyananthan had earlier said that Malaysians returning from Singapore will not be allowed to self-quarantine at home and will instead be sent to a government quarantine facility or in the hospital.
Ismail Sabri Yaakob, Senior Minister also said that numbers of people returning from Singapore will be regulated and may be restricted to only 400 permits per day.
