Air Asia Indonesia (QZ), a low cost carrier, is set to resume operation of domestic passenger flights from Friday (June 19) for certain domestic routes on Monday, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
The routes include Jakarta-Bali (QZ 7520), Bali-Jakarta (QZ 7521), Jakarta-Medan (QZ 192) and Medan-Jakarta (QZ 193).
The carries has released updated guidelines on its website for passengers of domestic and international flights traveling during the COVID-19 pandemic.
At the airport, the passengers will be required to show either Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test results that are valid for only 7 days or non-reactive rapid test results that are valid for only 3 days. In case, the results indicate that the traveler is positive to COVID-19, he or she will be denied to fly. Moreover, all passengers will require to install the PeduliLindungi surveillance App.
In addition to above, passengers will be allowed to carry only one small cabin baggage into the aircraft, according to new health and safety rules issued by Air Asia Indonesia.
The bag should be either a laptop bag or hand bag with weight up to 7 kg with dimensions not exceed by 40 X 30 X 10 cm, otherwise it will be placed with checked baggage. Generally, the carrier provides free baggage allowance of up to 15 kg for domestic flights.
Apart from the cabin baggage limitation, passengers will require to go through screening, temperature checks and sanitization at the airport. The authorities also urged the travelers to carry a spare face mask and hand sanitizer with them at the all times.
In regards to flight-in meal services, passengers have to order their foods and beverages on the airline’s website or mobile app at least 24 hours before the flight departure.
Mr. Achmad Sadikin, Safety and Security Director of Air Asia Indonesia, said the company had implemented its safety and health protocols by following the government’s latest regulations during its “hibernation” period.
He also stated, “Our entire staff including pilots and cabin crew members has undergone intensive safety procedure training that will be updated depending on the latest policies as we’re preparing to resume operations.”
