International travelers who plan to travel for spending their vacation or holidays in Vietnam can now find the country’s best sustainable green tourism options online on Vietnam tourism website.
The Vietnam Tourism Advisory Board (TAB), the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) and the Swiss Sustainable Tourism Programme (SSTP) have jointly launched a new “Green Tourism” section on the national tourism website: www.vietnam.travel/sustainability.
Users who visit this section will find articles dedicated to local etiquettes, best practices for responsible travelers and guidelines on following Vietnamese customs. Apart from these, users will also find articles that highlight lesser-known destinations in the country.
In order to make it easier for travelers to find sustainable tourism service providers in Vietnam, this webpage provides a directory of well-known companies across the country. Visitors can find ethical, educational and environmentally excursions. They can look for sustainable accommodation in hotels, home stays and lodges. They can also discover souvenirs such as textiles, handicrafts and stationery brands that preserve Vietnamese culture and support local communities.
This section also provides hand-drawn info graphics about sustainable travel in Vietnam, as well as in-depth stories of people interested in Vietnamese ethnic minorities and traditional handicraft villages. To make the experience feasible for travelers planning a trip, it also includes a collection of leading travel agencies that provide sustainable experiences.
To ensure that listed companies become outstanding examples of social and environmentally sustainable tourism, the Vietnam Tourism Advisory Board (TAB) seeks the expertise of the Swiss Sustainable Tourism Programme (SSTP) consultants to study the content of the “Green Tourism” section in accordance with the sustainability standards established by the SSTP for the Vietnamese tourism industry.
Tourism officials said that the “Green Tourism” section represents progress, which is the first step for Vietnam to support sustainable travel businesses and assist responsible travelers to come to Vietnam.
In the next few months, the national tourism website will release its first video showcasing the best sustainable tourism assets and outstanding experiences in the country. The website will also provide sustainable products in Vietnam and holidays under its official social media channel: @vietnamtourismboard.
Vietnam also recently launched a “Visit Vietnam from Home” page, which encourages travelers to explore the country even if the border is closed. This page provides virtual travel experiences such as 360-degree tours, immersive videos, coloring pages and local recipes.
