Air Asia Group has partnered with the digital transformation company GrayMatter to launch Scan2Fly, a technology hosted by cloud which can determine the eligibility of passengers to fly before arriving at the airport, thereby providing passengers and staff with a more seamless and contactless clearance procedure.
With the launch of Scan2Fly, passengers of the carrier can scan and upload their medical certificates during the online self boarding process. This includes the corresponding processing of any necessary documents to verify whether the passenger has been approved to fly by various authorities and holds a valid COVID-19 negative certificate.
The system has gone live on many Air Asia flights from Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2) in Malaysia to and from Singapore as well as Surabaya. It will soon be provided flights to and from Jakarta and other Air Asia destinations, where valid travel documents are required before commence the travel.
Scan2Fly is one of the airline’s latest technological improvements which are aimed at improving the passengers’ journey amid the coronavirus pandemic. Other recent enhancements include automated baggage check-in services, roving technology for temperature checks and biometric facial recognition technology for its passenger handling system through its strategic partner Vision-Box.
Currently, the airline is also cooperating with Vision-Box to further deploy many other contactless experience systems, such as digital identity management for the entire travel and financial ecosystem.
Mr. Javed Malik, Chief Operating Officer of Air Asia Group, has said during a press release that the digital transformation continues to gain momentum as the group strives to reduce costs and further improve the passengers’ journey by improving digital functions, making this new world travel more safe, hygienic, contactless and seamless than ever before.
As the group moves towards a one-stop travel and lifestyle platform, it will announce many more innovations in due course.
