Kereta Api Indonesia offers Train Ticket for Christmas and New Year holidays

State railway operator Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) regional office (Daop) 3 Cirebon is currently offering train tickets for the upcoming holidays at the end of this year.

Mr. Luqman Arif, Public Relations Manager of KAI Daop 3 Cirebon, has said in a official release, “We have made tickets available for those who want to travel during the Christmas and New Year holidays.”

These tickets are available for various destinations and can be purchased through the company’s official website kai.id, mobile app KAI Access or authorized agents.

KAI Daop 3 Cirebon currently operates two trains: KA Kaligun and KA Ranggajati. The former connects Cirebon and Jember in East Java, and on the other hand, the latter connects Cirebon and Semarang in Central Java.

Mr. Arif explained that passengers departing from Cirebon can also go to other destinations because there were other trains passing and stopping at the station, including KA Argo Anggrek services for Central Jakarta, Gambir and Surabaya in East Java; KA Taksaka services for Yogyakarta and Gambier route and more.

KAI Daop 3 Cirebon is currently offering regular train tickets. However, in case all tickets are sold out, the company plans to add more schedules.

Regarding health regulations, the company has been following health and safety measures at stations and on trains. Safety measures include limiting the train capacity per trip to 70 per cent so that passengers can maintain a safe distance from each other.

KAI has resumed operations of 14 long-distance trains and 23 local passenger trains after two months of shutting down services to curb the spread of the virus. The operator originally stopped services in April, but after the government banned the embargo on Idul Fitri mudik (exodus) in May, it granted exemptions to certain travelers.

According to reports, due to the reduction in travel demand caused by the COVID-19, KAI suffered Rp 2.4 trillion loss from January to September, a sharp drop in profits from Rp 1.5 trillion in the same period last year.

According to the financial report submitted by KAI on the Indonesian Stock Exchange (IDX) website, as of September, its revenue has also fallen by 31.4 per cent year-on-year to Rp 12.2 trillion. The financial report shows that the ongoing health crisis caused uncertainty and continued to affect the company.
