The national flag carrier Singapore Airlines (SIA) has confirmed on Tuesday (Sept 29) that it will no longer start “flights to nowhere” plan due to market research and reviews. Earlier, the carrier was planning to launch “Flights to Nowhere” plan with an aim to increase the airline’s revenue where the aircraft takes off and lands at the same airport and taking passengers on a picturesque journey in the sky.
Although passengers can still experience the airline’s services- albeit on the ground as the airline will launch three other initiatives under “Discover Your Singapore Airlines” in the coming weeks, Singapore Airlines has announced on Tuesday (Sept 29).
The airline will offer its Airbus A380 aircraft, which is parked at the Changi Airport, as a somewhat different restaurant. Three initiatives include having lunch on an Airbus A-380, visiting SIA’s training facilities and home delivery of meals from menus of the first class and business class.
Passenger will get chance to enjoy the airline’s signature dishes inside a double-decker Airbus A380 aircraft, the world’s largest passenger aircraft. Restaurant A380 @Changi will open for only 2 days on October 24 and October 25. The airline has not disclosed the details price ranges for the experience but passengers will be able to make their reservations from October 12.
For two days, Singapore Airlines guests will enjoy a complete in-flight dining experience on the ground. Diners can choose their cabin and enjoy the attentive service of the Singapore Airlines flight attendants, while enjoying the airline’s signature international cuisine on the plane. The airline will also offer delicious dishes from the Peranakan menu specially designed by the famous Singaporean chef Shermay Lee.
In addition to providing the A380 restaurant experience, Singapore Airlines will also conduct a behind the scenes tour at its training center which is likely to take place over two weekends in late November. The airline will bring visitors to its training center for guided tours and activities. Participants will be able to learn about the history of the airline, as well as the training methods of the crew and SIA’s work on sustainability. They can even add a run in the flight simulator, wine tasting experience or makeup lessons and how to get the look of a “Singapore Girl”.
People can also enjoy SIA’s best dining at their home. From October 5, Singapore Airlines will deliver a meal with wine and champagne for two persons to their residents. Those who are used to the premium experiences can choose the first class or business class experience with exclusive SIA tableware.
The new initiatives under “Discover Your Singapore Airlines” will enable airline to attract their customers and fans even if the number of flights has fallen due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
