Low cost carrier AirAsia (QZ) on Friday announced that it is extending the suspension of flight operations in Indonesia until May 31 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the latest statement, the airline will gradually restart its flights on selected domestic and international routes from June 1 subject to easing out of social restrictions and border controls in several regions it operates.
The airline had earlier planned to resume limited flight operations from Surabaya in East Java to two Malaysian cities, namely Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru, from May 18.
Passengers affected by the further suspension are advised to look for the latest information on airasia.com or the carrier’s mobile app.
As per the updated guidelines, air passengers in Indonesia are required to wear face masks throughout their flight, from check-in to baggage collection at their destination airport. The authorities also urged the travellers to carry a spare face mask and hand sanitizer with them at all times.
