After over a month of following lockdown restrictions along with border closure, the tourist destinations and sites across Jakarta are now ready to welcome tourists again. Tourist destinations and sites in the city are scheduled to reopen starting from June 13.
To prevent from the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, all tourist sites across the capital were closed for visitors since end of April.
As per statement of Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency head Cucu Ahmad Kurnia on Tuesday, the move is a part of the large-scale social restrictions (Pembatasan Sosial Berskala Besar or PSBB) gradual transition into the “New Normal Era” implemented by Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan.
Beach destinations such as Thousand Islands in North Jakarta may also reopen for tourists on June 13. All indoor and outdoor tourism parks are allowed to welcome visitors beginning June 20, however water parks are still restricted to reopen till further notice.
Businesses which are under the agency’s management such as indoor and outdoor sport facilities (excluding swimming pools and water parks) have already been allowed to operate since June 5.
Museums and art galleries across Jakarta have been allowed to operate since June 8, following the agency’s circular. Moreover, food businesses provided by hotels are also open since June 8 however dine-in services are still banned.
According to the new policy, all places are required to follow health protocols and limit their number of visitors to 50 per cent of normal capacity. All visitors must adhere to regulations, while visiting these tourist attractions, such as wearing a face mask, frequent hand washing and maintaining a distance of two meters from other visitors.
